Bicycle Frame Lunch Bag

Flap/Main: Premier Prints Scribble Storm, Storm Grey

Accent: Covington Cameron Stripe, Fiesta

Lining: Robert Kaufmann Quilters Linen Print, Chartreuse

Pattern: Bicycle Frame Lunch Bag

This pattern is pretty bare bones so I made it a little more polished by adding a lining to the bag. The way the pieces are cut makes assembly with a lining a little tricky — you have to sew around the opening and then over the top. If I make this again I’ll need to figure out a better way to line the bag — perhaps by redoing the pattern entirely.

I made these pouches for Kyle’s teachers for teacher appreciation week. The pictures really don’t do them justice (I am a horrible photographer). I think in the future I’m going to make all these pouches with wrist straps to make them easier to use as clutches.

Harriet Expandable Tote

Exterior: Art Gallery Dreamin’ Vintage Mod Pop, Lavender

Lining: Art Gallery Dreamin’ Vintage Sweet Meadow, Orchid

Contrast/Accent: Kokka Echino Fall, Black

Pattern: Swoon Patterns Harriet Expandable Tote

I made this tote for my mother-in-law for her birthday. Overall it turned out really well; however, the next time I make it I’ll change a few things: I’ll make the handles about 5″ longer. The bag hits at an awkward spot and I think a little more length will solve that problem. Also I used a large geometric print for the main fabric and the accents; when I assembled the bag I realized that I didn’t match up  the patterns very well. In the future, I’ll use a smaller patterned fabric or make sure to carefully match the pieces. Finally, I used a sew in foam stabilizer because the fusible was not in stock; definitely a mistake. The foam sagged and bubbled and I think the fusible would have stayed put much better.
